Basement Bottom Plate Framing on Concrete Floor

My contractor used metal plate as bottom plate on concrete floor in the basement?   Is this acceptable?

Thoughts the bottom plate has to be pressure treated lumber by code.  Thanks!

Hello needadvise, and welcome to the Community!

Typically pressure treated is the preferred material to be on top of concrete, you would need to check with your local building department if this is acceptable, codes can vary state by state and city to city.

Thanks, Angelo

Steel framing is corrosion resistant so there shouldn't be any issues.  They do it in commercial structures all the time.

It's probably too late but if you're really concerned have your contractor put down a barrier of some sort.  Roofing felt, sill foam, etc.
