Hey Mjb71697,

Thanks for your question and welcome to the community.

From what I'm understanding, your remote control unit isn't working when both the light and fan is operating. If you have already wired everything correctly, you can then check all existing connections as a next step.

Beyond that, it's going to be easier to replace the receiver (in the ceiling fan) and remote together. You can't really repair them, just replace them to ensure you have a good working fan.

If your receiver came with the fan and is located near the junction box, then you can visit your local Home Depot and purchase a new remote/receiver unit (they are always sold together).

If the remote's receiver is inside the fan near the light kit, then you'll need to contact the manufacturer of the fan. You can also exchange the entire fan if you wish, but you'd have to take it down and bring it into your local store to make the transaction possible.

Please let us know what type/brand of fan you have, and we can assist you further.
