Concrete Sealer

I live in Pennsylvania so there is a lot of freeze and thaw. I had new sidewalks installed 3 years ago, however I do not think the concrete was sealed properly or at all. Now, the very top layer seems to be wearing down and a little gritty. Not terrible, but noticeable. is there a sealer I can put down that can help this, even though the concrete is 3 years old.

Hello Zuma11.

Your concrete contractor probably did not seal the sidewalks, as this would be an extra trip for them and you would have remembered both the event and its cost.  At this point I would recommend the application of a sealer which has a silane/siloxane combination base.  This formula will tend to both waterproof the concrete as well as strengthen its surface.  Be aware that there are lots of concrete sealers available.  A little research on the benefits of silane/siloxane will hopefully keep you from substituting other formulas.  Although not available in our stores, Home Depot does sell this product online:

Foundation Armor

This is also available in 5 gallon pails.
