DIY Snowman Outdoor Holiday Yard Decor

Yard art is great if you want to decorate your home or yard. Here is a quick and easy project that you can do real fast. So let's get this project started. First we need some supplies and tools and here is a list

WHAT YOU NEED FOR THIS JOB:

Tools

Materials

 Jigsaw

Drill/Bit (15/64)

Paint Roller/Tray

2x4 plywood (116-103)

Paint ( 1000403-472) white, blue, pink, black

4 2x4 lumber (845-000)

Christmas lights (146-580)

Drywall screws (105-864)

Marker and/or pencil

We start by making a sketch of something we like. I think a snow-couple would be great.

Next we draw them on the plywood. This is where we get artistic and adventurous. Don't worry if you make mistakes at this point because the paint will cover them all up.

Next we cut the shapes out with a fine tooth jigsaw blade.

I used a very small roller to do this project. Of course if you want to use a brush you can, of course this will add time to our project.

Here is the part where we drill our 2x4 wood to the back of the cutouts. This will keep the wood from bending and allow us to drill a hinge in the wood for support.

So here is where we add details to make it look like our "snow-couple".

Ok now le't drill holes with our 15/64 bit. This is the size that makes our lights fit snug.

With all our lights pushed in we need to drill in our hinge so we can put a support stand behind.

This isn't rocket science as you can see. I used some twine to make sure the stand stays sturdy.

Wow, that was about 3-4 hours of fun and a whole season of great looks. Don't be shy about adding some things like a real scarf or other personal touches.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Howdy all,

Just a quick update. The snow-couple got plenty of people wanting to have fun taking photos in it. At one point there were lines of people waiting to take pictures in it. Who knew it would have such a great reaction from people.

Happy New Year,
