Disposing of Wood Stain Rags

Hey there. So I'm working on my first project and have a question about getting rid of wood stain rags.

I followed directions on the can. Submerged in water, scrub with dish soap, lay out to dry for a few hours, and then throw them away. Got paranoid while throwing them away and put them in ziplocks filled with water before throwing them in the community dumpster. The rags weren't oil soaked, I just used them to wipe excess off after the stain penetrated the wood.

This should be safe right? Just trying not to start a fire and I saw the warning on the can.

Hello Axuriam,

Thanks for your question and welcome to the community.

You really went out of your way to clean and properly dispose of your stained rags. They weren't soaked thoroughly as you stated, so it's even less of an issue with them being flammable and a safety hazard.

I will add that depending on the trash service where you live will determine how you disposed of it is safe or needed any additional steps.

But overall, you played it safe and took the right precautions.

Let us know if you have any further questions,
