Echinacea: 'Cheyenne Spirit'

Echinacea, Coneflower: Cheyenne Spirit

This perennial coneflower hybrid is beyond spectacular, it is a definite ‘must have’ for any sunny garden bed!

The colorful display of vibrant hues are like no other in the garden; with petal colors that span from deep fuchsia red, peachy to pumpkin orange, buttery-pale to bold- bright yellow, and every shade in between…..they are a total show stopper!

Plant the ‘Cheyenne Spirit’ coneflowers in a sunny, well drained area, they will grow from 18-30 inches in height, they can bloom from summer until the frost, hardy in zones 4-9.

The beautiful, colorful, blossoms attract bees and butterflies; the cone heads, when left untrimmed for the winter, are a great food source for small song birds, like finches and chickadees.

The ‘Cheyenne Spirit’ is the ultimate flower for a cutting garden; the tall, bushy growth habit with its generous blooms allows ample flowers for cutting, with plenty left for a gorgeous garden display!

This ‘Cheyenne Spirit’ is the perfect seasonal transition flower!  In one group of blooms you have the soft, muted colors of early spring, the hot, bold colors of mid-summer and the soothing, rich colors of the harvest.

These flowers just keep growing and giving …the seeds from the cone heads, that the birds have not eaten, will sow themselves in the garden for next season’s blooms.

Echinacea is one of the few perennials that will bloom from seed the first year planted.

Stop by your local Home Depot and pick up a several pots of: Echinacea ‘Cheyenne Spirit’, plant them in a mass, or plant them in pockets throughout your landscape, or just enjoy them in a planter on your porch or patio!

The Home Depot will be flooded with these magnificent flowers for the holiday weekend, catch the spirit of transition…..plant the ‘Cheyenne Spirit’…..enjoy!!    Maureen
