Front porch beam

I have a 100+ year old house we bought last fall and the front porch beam is falling apart, I need to replace it.
The beam is just old 1x6s boxed in setting on top of a 4x4 that someone replaced.
There is no room to go with a larger beam as there is only 6' of height.
There are 3 post and one end is cut into the wall, they span 9'3" ` 7" and 6' into the wall.
What I have come up with is glueing 3-2x6s together staggered.
My question is could I do this with 2-2x6s and plywood to make it the thickness of the 4x4?
I plan on wrapping the beam with metal and the post wil LP trim boards.

I'm not an engineer so I can't comment on spans.  Because a 4x4 is 3 1/2" thick, just like building a header for a door or window, one typically sandwiches a piece of 1/2" plywood or OSB between 2x lumber.  Glue and screw.
