Hampton Bay fan not working but clicking sound

Hello There,

I have a Hampton Bay fan (model 54SHRL) that was working for several years but suddenly stopped and it just makes a "click click click" sound wan power is on from the switch. light turns on. I moved the fan with the hand to see if a capacitor problem but it does not keep turning.
I wonder if it is just the remote on the fan ( CHIA Electric model FAN-10R, 120v, 300W) or i'll need to change the whole fan.

Thanks in advance,

Marcelovg

Hey Marcelovg,

Thanks for your question and welcome to the community.

The problem could be from the receiver unit of the fan that is located inside the canopy or light kit in the ceiling fan. I'm with you that it's probably not the capacitor, but in either case, replacing both receiver and remote (it's a 2 piece setup) should be the best solution for you.

I'd advise to first contact Hampton Bay directly with the phone number below.

Make sure you have your model number/UPC or SKU number...any number that is located on top of the motor housing and then call so you can get the correct troubleshooting.

Keep us updated on your progress,
