Hi Momokc,

Your local Tool Rental Associate can show you a hammer drill.

The kit contains a chisel bit that mounts to the tip.

This tool should make quick work of fracturing cement ... although you may not produce a perfect edge.

If you need a cleaner cut, ask about renting a concrete saw.

It provides a very straight cut for a cleaner, finished appearance.

NOTE:

In either case, make certain to contact Utilities Protection to mark your utilities and issue a "dig permit" before you begin.

Hello Momokc.

Rather than bust up the concrete, why not get a mailbox post with a flange at its base so you could simply drill small holes and use anchors to attach the post to the sidewalk?
