Hello Dftllc,

Welcome to the community.

I would like to give you a link to a great series of how to videos that will take you step by step on how to install a concrete or stone paver patio.

I personally think it’s a lot easier than it sounds. I laid paver in my back yard and I have to say it was well worth it. I’m not going to say it was easy, it took a lot of sweat and back breaking work but it’s all worth it now that I can sit and enjoy it.

There are a couple of different series but I think this one is very straight forward and very easy to understand. Here is the link to the first of three videos.

Do I use paver sand itself or Do I still need paver base sand for patio stone?

Thanks!

Hello Kenshin03,

You can use paver sand for both, base and joints.

They normally recommend base sand under the stones because it's a little more course and tends to level and drain a little better. But I've had many customer use the paver sand for both and it has worked out just fine.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I would love to help.:smileyhappy:

Sorry for the late response I was working at the store yesterday. :smileyhappy:

Yes you would lay the base sand down and level it then set all of the patio stones.

Once all stones are set spread the paver sand over them and work it in with a push broom until all of the joints are filled to the top. This step may need to be repeated every couple of years due to the sand settles and also gets washed away.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I would love to see pictures of your patio project. Please post some pictures here on the community so we can all admire your hard work.
