Kids Workshop~Fire Safety~Harvest Happenings~Oct 2019

October is fire safety month, and as always, the monthly Kids Workshop project for October at The Home Depot had a fire safety theme.

Every Kids Workshop brings excitement to the store but the enthusiasm for the October KW is always just a bit over the top because the City of Boston firefighters arrive on scene in their fire truck. The children love to climb on board the fire truck, the kids ask so many questions and the firefighters answer each one while they guide the kiddos through the functions of trucks equipment, the adults also enjoyed getting up close to the, totally impressive, fire truck.

The October Kids Workshop was staged outside and the KW project was a fire plane. The project had lots of pieces and many steps the tiny builders used goggles, hammers, screw drivers, glue, paint and stickers, each step took concentration and patience, which was not the easiest of tasks with all the other fun activities that were going on at the same time.

Tables were set up for pumpkin carving and pumpkin painting, there was also a table with bowls full of yummy treats along with treat bags for the filling, and there was a face painting station! The West Roxbury, Ma. Home Depot was all dressed up for the harvest season and to celebrate all the festivities of Fire Safety Saturday and the October Kids Workshop.

It is always amazing to see all that comes out of a Kids Workshop, not only do the children walk away with a wonderful project that they built themselves, another take away from a fun filled Saturday at The Home Depot is a feeling of community, a sense that cannot be produced at any other venue; for such a giant store the events have a welcoming, small town feel.

Saturday was a picture perfect autumn day, clear blue sky, with a slight cool breeze.

Pumpkins, hay bales and cornstalks wrapped the pillars of the building, white and orange pumpkins were piled high, with heaps of gourds and native corn on front tables, and the colorful mums trimmed it all! The Home Depot is the place to go for all you autumnal needs!

We are all stocked and ready for Fire safety month as well!

Shrubs, trees and perennials went into a markdown mode this week and the customers are loving it all, carriages and cars were filled to the brim, with smiles all around!

The true harvest taken from Saturday are the memories that were created and will be held in hearts and the minds of everyone that stopped by for the Kids Workshop, and for all who carved and painted a pumpkins, and then climb up on the fire truck and had a chat with Boston’s finest.

One family told me "We just stopped to get paint chips, we had so much fun"!

Find a sense of community, bring your favorite tiny builder to your local Home Depot the first Saturday of the month for the Kids Workshop, the harvest of god fum and memories will be more than bountiful!
