Leaking cast iron shower riser

I have a shower that is leaking out of the hot water riser. Unfortunately, the riser is made of cast iron that has corroded, and I’m afraid to take a wrench to the joint for fear of the entire pipe disintegrating. What’s my best move?

Hi jpark134,

We always encourage DIYers, and try to do our best to help. However in cases like yours calling a professional plumber is the best solution. They have the knowledge and experience to solve the problem without creating further damage to your plumbing.
