Hi there jmalban,
I'm Jen, from The Home Depot.
Where specifically in Northern VA do you live and what is the closest Home Depot to you?
Are you looking for a Chinese Fan Palm?
Once I hear back from you, I can look try and see if the plants go to your local Home Depot.
Ok, so I looked into your USDA zone and you live in zone 6B. Unfortunately palm trees are a tropical plant and they are not zoned as a Hardy plant for your area. The closest would be a Windmill Palm or European Fan Palm which are hardy to zone 7. But they will not survive the winter in your area.
If you love the tropical look then you can put them outside in the summer and early fall, then bring them inside for the winter as a houseplant.
I put in a call to see if they are available in your area. Just be aware that they are not guaranteed to be hardy in zone 6b. I will get back to you when I have an answer.
So here is what I found out.
If you looking for them today… there are none in the area at this time. Our grower can send some to that store in a week or two if you are interested.
They have the following:
3 Gallon Pots
Canary Date Palm 2-3’
Needle Palm 22-30”
Windmill Palm 26-32”
Dwarf Blue Palmetto 20-28”
7 Gallon Pots
Pindo Palm 3-4’
Green European Palm 42”-46”
Silver European Palm 30”-36”
Windmill Palm 32”-40”
Needle Palm 30-36”
Do you know what size you purchased last year?
If you are interested, please let me know. Also, they would like to confirm that the store you shop at is on Alwington Blvd.
Look forward to hearing from you soon.
Can you send me a private message with your email and phone number and I will get back to you after I contact the store and buyer?
