Military Discount Online

I saw in a previous question that Home Depot was unable to give military discounts online.  Is it possible to purchase items that are only found online and then take the receipt to my local store to get the difference refunded?

Was an answer given to this question? My local Home Depot give me the military discount, however the items I want are only found online. I am fine with having the items shipped to the store or sent to my home address to get the discount.

Some transparency regarding this question would be nice.  Thank you.

Posted 6 months ago and still no answer. Well, Lowes offers it online and in store to active and veterans. They validate everything online and link it to you my lowes account. Don't even need to provide your military ID or DD-214.

Pretty annoying that Home Depot doesn't and won't even answer the question...

I got a slightly better explanation recently when I asked.  If you order online and the store sells the same item (i.e. you ordered online because the store was out of stock), they can make an adjustment for the military discount.  If you order online when the item is not sold in the store, they cannot adjust for the discount because the item is not in their system.  Makes sense, but that's where Lowe's offers the better option for online discounts.

I order online and pick up at the store many times, But customer service still wont give me 10% military discount  (the  item were  in stock). so now I just order, I can get 10% discount online, or  use $50 get $10 off coupon. That is good deal.

My wife and I are both Ret & Vet from AF. We remodeled or TH in 2016 and I used my military discount in store and online; but the trick with online orders is you have to call the 800 order number and ask them for a Courtesy Military Discount that they can apply to your order from Home Depot HQ Ordering Dept. They can see your in-store purchases against a credit card and see that you were given a Military Discount on purchases then they can use those transactions as validation of your verified Military Discount. We spent $15K - $20K through our local HD and additional $2K on HD online orders that we received our Military Discounts on them.

If you have problems obtaining the Military Discount for online orders, contact the 800 number for Customer Service and explain to them what you are trying to do with the Home Depot Part numbers so they can assist you with your order?

Our Military Discount is supposed to apply up to $500.00 in discounts on each purchase/order per Home Depot's Military Discount Program Information.
