Tilling back yard, Whats next?

I recently had a very large tree cut down and plan on tilling my whole backyard to start over with a new & fresh grass. I am just confused as to what i need to do after i till the yard. I'm not sure what seed/fertilizer to use or what is needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Hello Jarrid.  Welcome to the Community!

Once tilled enough to break up all the dirt clods/chunks, you will need to use a bow rake to smooth out the surface.  Rent or buy a lawn roller to make a firm walkable surface.  For most applications where you live I recommend a light application of starter fertilizer and a "Sun and Shade" grass seed mix.  This will yield the prettiest lawn.  If you need tougher turf or have other special conditions then there are other options.  Remember to lightly water the yard daily for the first 2 weeks.  This should help you get started.
