Water Heater dent

I just bought a water Westinghouse water heater with a lifetime TANK warranty.  There was a delay in delivery time, and when the shipping company finally delivered, the box was really damaged.

The tank has a dent along the wall and some bigger dents on the bottom.  I am not planning to get a replacement or refund, but I want to know if this will in anyway affect my warranty in the future.  Is there a way I can get Home Depot to note the damage?

Hi Mew,

File a freight claim with the shipping company and notify Home Depot of the freight damage, they will replace the unit for you. I would not keep a damaged unit, it may have unseen damage and not work properly or possibly not at all.
