What In The World Is an Aerator?

You have heard the term he or she is full of hot air! Meaning a person is talking a lot, especially without saying anything of value or significance. While we usually try to avoid the blowhards in life, some extra air, hot or not, does come in handy. We get that air using aerators.

Aerators are devices used for aeration or mixing air with another substance, such as soil, water or wine.

  Wine Aerator

wine aerator is a small, in-bottle, hand-held pour-through or decanter top device for aerating wine. These devices mix air into the wine as it flows through or over, increasing exposure to oxygen and causing aeration. They offer an alternative to swirling traditional decanting, and to Aldous (i.e. to wait for wine to breathe).

          Faucet Aerator

A faucet aerator attaches to the spout of indoor water faucetsThe aerator adds air to the water stream allowing it to flow into the bowl without splashing.

Lawn Aerator

Lawn aeration helps control lawn thatch and soil compaction, making grass roots multiply. Aerating either by coring or spiking causes the roots to divide or sever apart. Severing roots makes them multiply. When roots multiply the blades multiply thereby keeping the lawn thick and rooting deeply.

So the next time you run into a blowhard, tell them you can’t talk, because you got to go out and buy an aerator!
