What kind of primer should I use under Behr Marquis and over new plaster?

I'm painting an addition to my house.

jtdavies,

It depends on what type surface is being primed: if it is new, bare drywall, a dedicated drywall primer is called for. New plaster would be best primed with Behr No.75 acrylic primer. A single coat of Marquee flat or eggshell over No.75 primer should give a nice even sheen. A satin or semi-gloss Marquee might possibly need a second coat to achieve an even sheen. Plaster, in general, is much better sealed inherently, than is drywall.

Even though Marquee has exceptional one coat covering ability, if a strong finish color is desired, you might want to have the primer tinted down toward the finish color to assure absolute maximum color rendition.
