Add Wood Moulding to Flat Metal Front Door

We just bought a house and the front door is pretty boring. It's just a flat metal door that has only been painted on the inside (the outside is still just the color of the factory primer). I'd like to add some moulding to the outside and paint it on that side, but I'm not sure how to attach wood moulding to a metal door. How do I attach it securely to the door other than just glueing it?

Congrats on your new house and welcome to the forums.

You can attach the moulding on to a steel door using the fine thread Trim screws.

These are normally used in commercial construction to attach wood bases (moldings) to steel studs.

They have very small heads that can be concealed into the molding using the wood putty. If you're using the thin profiles, you want to pre drill it first.

I use these extensively for stair framing and for installation of crown and baseboards over the steel studs.

Hope this helps and please do not hesitate to post back with any additional questions you may have.
