Advice or Tips on renting the MK 24" Saw to cut 36" Slate ?

Hoping to cut 36" x 48" into stair treads.

Thanks for your question and welcome to the community!

 

The tile saws that we rent out at your nearest Home Depot Tool Rental Center could be used for cutting 36" slate, but I know most of them cut 18" inch straight cuts accurately. That's not to say you could slowly cut them using a helper or an added platform.

In terms of making a bullnose or beveled edge, you can use a grinder or an electric file to give yourself an angled edge. With just straight cuts, as long as you are careful you can make the cuts.
