Air Compressor recommendation - framing of walls for finishing a basement

Wanting to slowly start finishing my unfinished basement and looking for buy an air compressor to aid in the framing out of the walls.  Any adivce would be welcome.

With air tools you start with the air requirements of the tool, typically expressed a CFM (cubic feet per minute) at a specific pressure, and then pick a compressor that meets those requirements.  Most framing nailers are going to use around 5-6 CFM at 90 psi (pounds per square inch).  Since framing guns are designed for professionals the specs are for a tradesman in a product environment who is likely to be shooting a lot more nails, a lot faster than you will be.  That means you can get by with a smaller compressor at about 4 CFM.


If you haven't used a nailer before, make sure you read the instruction manual fully.  Approved eye and ear protection are a MUST.  Once you pull that trigger, nothing is stopping that nail and it will go through bone just as easily as wood.  Keep you hands (and any other body part) well clear of the nose of the gun.
