Air bubbles

I am painting my kitchen and now I have air bubbles  on my wall.  Why is this happening?  How do I get rid of the air bubbles and prevent it from happening to the other walls?

Air bubbles in paint are mostly caused by moisture trying to escape.  In rare cases they can occur in spots that the paint is not adhering to and can be caused by dust or a chemical residue.

I have found that many times if you let the paint completely dry and cure out - it will usually lay back down for you.

To prevent this from happening on the other walls:

  • Clean the walls before painting with TSP.
  • Lightly sand the walls with 200 grit sandpaper.
  • Let the first coat dry at least 12 hours before recreating.
  • Try and help the drying process along by adding heat, fan, or dehumidifier.
