Lantana can be found in butterfly gardens everywhere. It is considered to be an annual throughout most of the united states but considered a perennial from zones 8 through 11. This fast growing plant comes in many different colors, ranging from pinks, purples, yellows, reds, white and oranges as well as a combination of colors. When this plant gets covered in flowers it is guaranteed to impress.
Lantana can be found growing wild ocean side, therefore it prefers well drained moist soil. Plant with composted manure and water regularly for the first month and then only as needed. Lantana tolerates light shade so be sure it gets plenty of sun. Use a high Phosphorus fertilizer to stimulate blooming.
Look for Chapel Hill Gold, Mrs. Huff or New Gold for a more cold hardy variety.
