Varieties of this annual are actually herbs native to Asia and often found in the landscape growing as a weed. This plant is edible and loaded with Omega-3's, vitamins A, C and B, Iron, Potassium and Calcium.

Purslane is the ideal plants for hanging baskets due to its low, 6 inch tall growth and its incredible drought resistance succulent foliage. This plants is related to Portulaca and both are as tough as nails. This deer resistant annual opens its flowers once the sun comes out and closes its flowers in the evening when the sun goes down.

Purslane prefers dryer soils and it prefers to dry out between waterings if possible. This is our go to annual when someone asks for a flower that is hard to kill or for someone starting a flower bed in the hot summer heat.

Their colors are unlike any other annuals, as their unique colors are unlike those of any other flowers. They come in yellow, pink, orange, salmon and white flowers. This plant is a tender perennial in tropical climates that do not get freezing temperatures.
