Building a gate

I'm cutting a section out of a cinder block wall for a gate.

I need to know how to attach a gate to the opening.

Is there a frame that butts up against the cut edge of the wall that hold the gate and the latching side of the gate?

It would depend on the gate.

If this is a wooden gate then you could attach PT stock to the existing structure and it's no different than if you're mounting it to a wooden post. I'd probably use use construction adhesive and a few cement nails.

I haven't mounted a metal gate so I'm not familiar with that process. Most I've seen are mounted to metal pipes, which you could install alongside the structure (really close), as opposed to attaching them to it.
