Welcome to our community Aneuson!

My name is Christine and I'm a Home Depot associate in Atlanta.

You will need 2 x 8, duplex nails, framing square, stakes, a hammer and a sledge hammer.

First, cut the board to the length that you desire. Start by making the form for the first/ bottom step. You are going to use duplex nails to keep them together. Make sure to nail from the outside.

After the first step form is nailed together, make sure it is square with the framing square. Then, set the stakes on the outside of the form with the sledge hammer. Make sure your stakes are securely in the ground. It is recommended that you drive them in 6-12" deep. After the stakes are in, secure them with duplex nails.

Once your first form is built, build each additional step smaller than the last by how many inches you want your tread to be and put it on top of the last form. You can use the existing stakes to nail the form, or use new stakes as needed until you are done.

If you have anymore questions, please let us know!

Christine :)
