Cabinet Transformations: Sanding vs Deglosser

My cabinets are in pretty rough shape and I thought I should probably start with sanding them from the get-go.  Should I still use the Deglosser step after sanding, or can I skip it?

Over time the area around the edges of the door, handles, and on the very top will have a heavy concentration of dirt and grease.  The deglosser will also help clean any of this "film" off of the surface and allow for maximum adhesion of the base coat.

I would suggest using the deglosser first - then do any heavy sanding after the surface has thoroughly dried. You may even want to clean one more time after the sanding just to be certain.

I know it will look awesome when your finished.
