Can I cover two coats of semi-gloss polyurethane with satin polyurethane?

I put two coats of semi-gloss polyurethane on my dining table and it is too shiny.  Can I sand and put a coat of satin polyurethane to take away the gloss???

Absolutely!:smileyhappy:

There are of course a couple of considerations:

  • Stay with the same type of poly that is already on the table (oil-oil/ latex-latex).
  • lightly sand with a soft sanding pad and wipe clean before all new coats are applied.
  • let the product cure before laying any heavy objects on the surface for any long period of time.
