Can I use Nexus 4 x 4 self stick wall tiles over top of my current 4 1/8 x 4 1/8 ceramic wall tiles?

I dont want to remove them , Ima friad I will damage the wall and the surface wont be smooth enough to stick the tiles..I was wondering if the self stck tiles would lay flat and adhere to the old ceramic tiles?

Hi there Jamilynl,

Thanks for joining our community!~

The major concern would be with the grout lines in the ceramic tile. Since peel & stick tiles need a flat surface to adhere to, placing them over ceramic tiles isn't always the best idea. The concern however is more in the fact that they would crack with foot traffic, which wouldn't be an issue with a backsplash.

I would recommend either removing the tile or skim-coating over it with either a feather coat or a small amount of leveling compound-- just enough to get the surface flat.

Alternatively, if you do wish to go over the tiles, be sure to clean and degrease them well with products like TSP and scuff the surface as best as you can to promote adhesion with the sometimes glossy surface of the tiles.

Also bare in mind that this may void the manufacturer warranty by doing so. Consult the manufacturer or the instruction manual with the products first before doing so~
