Changing vented fireplace logs to unvented.

I have vented gas logs in my fireplace. All heat goes up the chimney. My husband wants to change them to unvented. Can we buy just a burner and use the same logs or do we need to purchase the whole set?

Hey Dplumsden,

Thanks for your question and welcome to the community!

Choosing a vent-free log set from your current vented set is great update for providing more heat.

Throughout the many years that I've sold them, I've rarely seen them with just a burner....it's almost always the entire set with logs included.

This is bc many people actually need to have the entire thing, and don't have existing sets.

My advice is to buy an entire set, so you'll know that the logs will be effective and eliminates guesswork. Make sure the firebox is cleaned out first and the damper that controls the flue is shut completely after installing your new gas log set.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions,

Joseph
