Crawl space insulation

What would be a good insulation to use in a crawl space where we can not use fiberglass because of our closeness to the ocean? Can one of the roll type metallic radiant's be used?

Howdy Rosspaul,

Yes indeed you can use a radiant barrier instead of using fiberglass.

Some of the reasons that radiant barriers are fast becoming a good replacement to fiberglass is;

  • Reflects up to 97% of radiant energy, reducing heating and cooling costs
  • Easy to use and install
  • Recycled natural-fiber padding is durable
  • Blanket-type, foil-faced insulation is lightweight and versatile
  • Excellent acoustical performance
  • Fire retardant with a Class-A or Class-1 fire rating
  • No itch or skin irritation

Happy Insulating,
