Cutting live wood

This piece of wood is 1.5" thick

https://img.etsystatic.com/il/a6600b/1371468161/il_570xN.1371468161_6tb3.jpg?version=0

If I purchased it would it be possible to cut it in half so that it was two panels, each 3/4" thick?

Could I bring it to home depot to have that done?

Howdy zpatenaude37,

That is a nice looking piece of wood. Hopefully it would dry enough before working on because if not, it could warp in strange angles.

As for bringing a piece of wood into the Home Depot to have cut, this would not work out for you.

For starters the blade used at the store is a ripping blade that does not do detailed cuts.

The saws featured at the stores are panel saws and radial arm saws. you would need a surface planer saw.

Lastly, if the person cutting the wood makes a mistake, the store could not replace or fix it.

Perhaps the place where you purchased the wood has the correct saw to do this for you.

happy building,
