STEP 1: HOOKS
Paint the door.
After paint is dry, use the tape measure to center each coat hook underneath a panel.
Mark the spots where the screws will go, and predrill the holes.
Affix the coat hooks with a screwdriver.
Predrill a small hole next to what will be the dry erase panel. Attach a metal eyehook. When the project is complete, use a string to attach a dry erase marker to the eyehook.
STEP 2: CORKBOARD
Measure the perimeter of the panel where you want the corkboard to go.
Cut the corkboard to size.
Apply adhesive to the back of the board, and set it into place.
STEP 4: HANGING
Mark two studs far enough apart to distribute the weight of your door.
With the drill, place one long screw deep within a stud. Using string and a level, place the second screw in the other wall stud.
Using the studs and the protruding screws as a guide, affix two D-ring hangers on the back of the door. Keep them high on the back of the door where the wood is solid. It’s okay to predrill these holes, but don’t punch through the other side of your door.
Have a friend help you lift the door, and slide the D-rings over the screws in the wall.
What is the brand of panel door used in the picture? This is exactly what I've been looking for!!
Hello Tg2469,
Welcome to the community.
The door that was used is a Masonite door. It is the Crown MDF 24” x 80” White 5-Panel slab door.
It has flat panels so it works really well with this project. There are other 5-panel doors that would work but most of them have raised panels so the chalk would get stuck in the edges.
Any flat panel door will work so if your local store doesn’t carry this exact door they should have one that will work.
I would love to see pictures of your wall organizer when you’re done. Please post some pictures her on the community.
Let me know if you have any other questions. I would love to help.
What a great idea, I like the way it is so simple to make!
