DeWalt Driver Brake

I bought the DeWalt 20 V Max Drill Driver kit today (DCD771).   It makes a loud "CLACK" noise when it stops in second gear.  It doesn't do this in first gear (the low torque setting).  I assume this is the brake.  Is this normal?  Do all DeWalt's make this noise?

Hey JKA.

That "clack" noise is normal for that drill, as I have used them many times in my 17 years with The Home Depot. It does seem to be especially louder on the dewalt versus others but it is normal.

I don't know but it doesn't sound right.  DeWalt offers a 90 day satisfaction guarantee so it should be easy enough to return it.
