Dianthus

Last summer, you sold a Dianthus which had three colors growing on the same plant. Could you tell me the name of the variety and whether it will survive the winter on Long Island, NY.

Hey Joshuawidman.

It sounds like you are talking about a plant commonly called Sweet William, aka. Dianthus barbatus.
This plant is a perennial between zones 3 to 9 so it will be a perennial for you as long as it is planted in the ground and getting full sun. Plants like this planted in pots do not survive the winter because the roots are not insulated from the cold winter temps.
