Dog urine spots in the lawn

I have spots in the front lawn and on the side of my driveway(neighbor's grass) that have turned yellow from the puppy urinating there the grass looks dead.

How can I get these places to grow grass again . She used these spots when we started house training her and now she always goes to these areas. I know we will have to train her to go elsewhere.

Any help I can get will be greatly appreciated.

Hello chazze1,

Welcome to the site!:smileylol:

Dog urine odor is very easy to get rid of, this is what is attracting the animal back to the area. Try mixing one cup white vinegar to one gallon of water to get rid of the scent. This will also help bring back the  PH of the lawn.

Depending on what kind of lawn that you have- Bermuda and St. Augustine are some of them, some grass will recover slowly one its own-DO NOT feed these areas- urine is a very strong fertilizer, just water for at least 15 minutes to dilute the excess.

Taking the dog one a leash to the area where you want them to go , using praise and possibly a treat, will help keep this area clear for recovery or reseeding.

Hope this helps,
