Is there a tool that I can use to cut a neat round hole (1"- 1 1/4") in 1/2" dry wall?

Spade bit with spurs do a pretty nice job and are inexpensive.

The bit in the front has spurs.

Hi DrWho,

A Ryobi Hole Saw Set will make quick work of your drywall hole project.

Simply locate the center of your desired hole, start the centered drill bit creating a pilot hole, and allow the saw to cut a perfect circle.

This tool attaches to almost any drill motor.
