Fake wood Paneling

I met with a contractor who wants to cover up my paneling with drywall is this a good idea?

Hey DD722.

The house I grew up in in the 1980's had wood paneling in it. It was common to see then but now look a little outdated. Remodeling contractors today commonly cover up paneling to give the house an updated look. It is just a matter of your preference. If the contractor wants to cover the paneling instead of removing it then I do not see that it would be a problem.

How long has the paneling been up? What room is it in? What is the condition of the paneling?
