Hi Sracteur, welcome to the community and we’re glad you joined. This is not always an easy job to do unless you have some experience.

The parts including the cables, brackets, etc. are under high tension. You can be severely injured if you handle the parts incorrectly.

If you have any doubts about your ability to perform this task, it is better to call a garage door repair company.

To determine whether you have a left hand or right hand wind, you need to remove the cone at the end of the spring.

You will see the direction the spring wire is winding. If the wire is winding in clock wise directions, it is a left wind.

If the wire is winding in counter clock wise, it is a right wind.

What you will need to perform this task. Unplug the garage door opener.

Wire size,

Inside diameter

Length of spring

Left or Right wind.

Winding bars, 1 pair.

Thank you for your question, and again we're glad you joined the community.
