Getting Kitchen Countertop Custom Cut

I need to replace a ~2 ft. long piece of counter top. First, is it possible to purchase a custom length piece? If not, second, can Home Depot cut a 2ft. long piece for me if I purchase a longer, standard counter top?

Hey cdillawa,

Thanks for your question and welcome to the community.

Your local Home Depot store's kitchen design center can partner with you to purchase and to cut the piece of countertop you'd like. We have never (and most likely never will) been able to do in-store cuts for any counterops.

You didn't specify what material you'd like the countertop to made from (laminate, Corian, natural stone, etc.), so this can greatly affect the price and how it can be cut.

Therefore, it is imperative to consult with a kitchen specialist at your local Home Depot store who can give you pricing and options so you can get the preferred custom cut for your kitchen countertop.

Let us know if you have any further questions,

Hi cdillawa,

Unfortunately we do not cut in stock counter top to size, the saws in the store do not accommodate such a cut.
Our custom order counter top program has a minimum purchase requirement which would be prohibitive for such a small piece.

You can purchase a 48 inch section of ready made counter top and cut it yourself, using a fine tooth plate and a circular saw. The recommended procedure is to measure and mark the top on the back side. Place masking tape on the front side, and cut from the back side of the piece using a 120 tooth plywood blade or a 60 - 80 tooth carbide tipped blade in a hand held circular saw.

Using the masking tape and cutting from the back side minimizes the chipping the the surface on the top side. If you are using plastic laminate counter top, Home Depot sells trim kits to finish off the cut end.
