Hello Jabberwocky!

Thank you for your question!

I have contacted a few manufacturers of gel paint strippers, and none of them recommend spraying gel strippers because the gel strippers are too thick and will clog the sprayer. If the gel stripper you have states it can be sprayed, I would recommend calling the manufacturer and asking them which spray tip and sprayer they recommend for their product.

Please reach out if you have any more questions,

You Know Jabberwocky, Christine is one of our most talented paint experts.

You'll certainly appreciate that she took time to call the manufacturer of our gel strippers and gave you the best instruction available.

Historically, gel strippers were designed not to drip or run when applied vertical surfaces.

Even today, they are the thickest stripping agents available.

Stripping agents that can be sprayed are also available at The Paint Pit.

These products are typically sold with a small plastic spray bottle.

If you must spray, look into Klean Strip Spray.

One of my concerns about using HVLP to spray stripper is that most of these oxidizing agents recommend against using metal containers ... most HVLP sprayers have numerous metal parts. I would consider an all plastic garden sprayer instead of HVLP.
