Half wall to Stair Railing

Hello  all,  I am looking to take down the half wall and install stair railing. It is a brand new house so looking for some professional advice. I have already located the spindles in the website but need ideas on how to take the wall down cleanly and also how much dry wall patch up will be needed. Does Home Depot have any related classes? Is this a DIY project to begin with?

Hey Jet,

Thanks for joining us here on the community, and thanks for uploading the images...it helps us immensely.

I'd say that frankly, no, this isn't a typical beginning DIY project. Even with the proper tools and repair materials, someone with experience would need to do this so that the new stair railing can safely be installed.

Taking the wall down will take patience and making sure it isn't going to affect the integrity of the stairs. While this can be done by a novice, we honestly don't know your skill set, so that would be something we couldn't ascertain here.

However, come into your local Home Depot to get all the materials needed as well as speaking to an associate in lumber/Pro Desk one on one who can give you more information.

Regards,
Joseph
