Hampton Bay Cameron II Plus Pinnacle Ceiling Fan

After 10 years the pull chain on my ceiling fan has stuck with the lights on. Is this a DIY or do I need help.

I would appreciate any help or guidance.

Thank you.

Hello gateso.  Welcome to the Community!

I am sure what has happened is that the return spring inside the fan's light switch has finally failed, leaving the switch in the on position.  The fix will be to replace the switch.  It should look like this one:

Light Switch.jpg

This is very much a DIY project.  The switch is available online at homedepot.com, and also should be stocked at your local Home Depot store.

Guidance:

•  Make sure you turn off the circuit breaker that powers the light kit.

•  You will need to remove the light kit from the fan.  If you still have the owners manual it will tell you how to do this.

If not then we can call in the troops to find one for you online.  To do this we will need you to locate the UPC for the

fan from the sticker located on top of the fan motor housing.  This 12 digit number will ID both the manufacturer

and the exact fan model.  I have posted a picture of this sticker below.

•  Once the light kit is removed you will see the switch.  It should be held in place by the knurled nut shown above.

•  Disconnect the two wires by unscrewing the wire nuts,  unscrew the knurled nut and pull out the switch.

•  Install the new switch and reattach the wires.

•  Put the light kit back on the fan and install the chain extension.

•  Flip the circuit breaker back on and you should be good to go.

Here are a couple other threads on the Community that address this process:

I hope this helps.  Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
