Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan humming

Have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan Model 23FB. After 5 years seems to have a humming sound that is getting louder. Any thoughts? Otherwise works fine...No remote control.

Thanks

Hello civery and thank you for joining The Community.  We are glad that you are here.

The “humming sound” sounds like your ceiling fan needs a new capacitor. To best help you find the source of the problem and resolve the sound issue, you will need to identify your ceiling fan. The “Model 23FB” information is not specific enough for the manufacturer for proper identification.  You need to get the 12 digit UPC code (all numbers – no letters) found on the sticker on top of the motor housing.

Safety note: Be sure to switch off the correct breaker before removing the motor housing.  If you will be using a ladder, place it on a level surface and be sure to have a helper spot you.  The ladder will need to support your weight as well as the weight of the ceiling fan.

Then contact our Hampton Bay team at 1-877-527-0313 and select option 2.  They can help you diagnose the problem and get your ceiling fan working properly again.

Best wishes on your project.
