Hampton Bay Fan Working at Slow Speed

Hello,

I have a Hampton Bay Ceiling fan that is functioning at a very low speed on it's highest setting. It is at least 3 years old now and used to work fine at one time. I've already checked to make sure that the wiring did not come loose and that everything was connected as it should be.

I have read about the possiblity of the capacitor going bad and possibly replacing it.

Where can I get the replacement capacitor and how easy or difficult is it to replace?

Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Hi mrfixit,  thanks for your question.  The capacitor is  very easy to change.  It's just a matter of cutting/stripping the wires and using wire nuts to replace it.  Remove the capacitor and take it with you to radio shack or any store like that.  We do carry a limited amount on homedepot.com but you have to have one with the same farred rate and the same number of wires.  I hope this helps.  Stukas
