I just bought a house which has Hampton Bay fan with lights and only operates with remote control, no pull chains. The remote works the lights/dimmer but the fan does not come on at all. I replaced the battery in the remote already. I have no paperwork on this only found the model #AC552 on the fan. Need some advise on what is possibly wrong.
Hello halby58 and thank you for joining The Community. We are glad that you are here.
If you are not able to retrieve the 12 digit UPC code found on the sticker on top of the motor housing (which involves switching off the correct breaker, getting up on a ladder, removing the ceiling fan, and retrieving the UPC code), you can send 2 photos of the ceiling fan for us to identify your specific model. This is helpful since AC552 is a common model number and does not identify a specific ceiling fan.
Call the Hampton Bay team at 1-877-527-0313, select option 2, and the specialist will provide the proper e-mail with additional instructions where to send the photos for us to identify.

Inside the fan, is there a pull chain that is not visible from the outside? If not, it is probably wired wrong. It's NOT likely a defective fan.
Hello califlaura and congratulations on the new home!
Our Hampton Bay team can answer any questions you have about the operation of your ceiling fan. First you will need to identify which ceiling fan you have. Locate the 12 digit UPC code (all numbers – no letters) found on the sticker on top of the motor housing. Then contact the Hampton Bay team at 1-877-527-0313 and select option 2. They are here to help from start to finish. They will diagnose the issues you have with the ceiling fan and help you get the operator manual for a long and happy ceiling fan life.
