Hanging lights

I like the look of hanging lights in a dining room. If they hang, say up to 48 inches above your dining room table, what happens when you move the table for some reason or another?  Can the lights be raised for room to move around?

Hello dkaf12.  Welcome to the Community!

If you install hanging lights above a table and then move the table it does make sense to watch your head when you walk where you normally don't.  If the lights hang from a chain, then you could use an "S" hook to temporarily raise the light by connecting a lower link into a much higher one.  This would not look very good, but would cut down on head hazards until you move the table back.  Pendant style lights without a chain would just have to be taken down.

If you do hang lights four feet above the table, and a typical table is at least 2 1/2 feet tall, then only people well over 6 feet tall will have to worry about banging their head as they walk where the table used to be.

I hope this helps,

Newf.
