Hardie board lap siding ??????

What is the best way to fasten to the plywood wall,do you nail it,do screw it on,,and how much should i lap it 1" or 2" the boards are 12 feet long by 7 1/4 wide hardie board lap siding it is hardie board fiber cement lap siding

Download complete installation instructions at www.jameshardie.com.  Overlap 1 1/4" using Solosiders (www.solosider.com) and drive stainless steel nails (www.fastenerusa.com) at least 1" into every stud using a palm nailer.

According to the James Hardie website, the actual overlap should be 1 1/4" for your Hardieboard siding, so you actually were close in your estimate. The picture below is a screenshot of the HardiePlank HL10 siding that is sold in southern areas of the country. More importantly, it shows just how and where and what to use for fastening the siding to your exterior walls.....

So, just choose from the list of fasteners shown above, since you would need  a certain fastener to work on certain frames. But, this should give you the options to ensure your Hardieplanks will be installed effectively and last for years to come.
