House renovation

I recently inherited by parents house which has not been remodeled since the 1950's. One change they did make is using 1" tile tiling the bottom half of the 7' walls in bedrooms, hallways and bathrooms. This tile is outdated and in a word...UGLY !! Other than ripping the tile out and tearing out the lower half of the drywall on these walls and replacing with wallboard, spackling etc.....is there any other options to modernize the look with much less hastle??

Hi Kksi,

One option for you would be to paint the tile.

Rust-O-Leum makes a product called Tile Transformations; it’s an all in one tile painting kit. You can

Paint the tile and give it the look of stone.

I have included a link below
