How To Build a knee Wall for a bar with granite top

I am remodeling my kitchen and want to have bar alongside some cabinets.  The bar is 8 feet long and and has a 15" wide top made of granite and needs to sit on a knee wall 40" high behind a row kitchen cabinets with a slide in range in the middle.  I have a tile floor.  What's the best way to anchor the wall to the floor?  It will attach a right angles to an adjacent wall.  Should the studs be at 16" or 24"?

Hi Wernickejc,

Granite is a very heavy counter top and needs to be well supported.

I would recommend you take photos of the area in which you want to place the counter and visit the kitchen and bath designers at your local Home Depot.

They can give you some ideas as to the proper way to build the counter you want, what will work and what will not work, and the type of structure you will need for a successful project.
